Review: Minecraft Dungeons
The Destiny Villa - Gladengveien 16D, 0661 Oslo, Norway

LaurenArtist was inspired by the stories of Dracula with this beautiful castle. Here, the choice of location is important too and just adds to the effect of it being a solitary gothic castle in the middle of nowhere. Perfect for players who love to be fancy and a bit drama

Minecraft Walkthrough: Story Mode – Episode 4: A Block and a Hard Place is the strongest episode yet in basically every aspect. Employing emotional factors as well as hard story elements, Telltale has managed to create a story that originated from just a few blocks. Every second of this two hour episode was spent towards making the player feel as though everyone really is depending on them to save the world. Hard times fall, but Jessie and his friends make this episode an unforgettable experience that one can only hope to be transferred to next and final episode of this series.

Think about when you were a youngster and you went to the sandbox at the park. You weren’t told “build a sand castle” by your parents. You had your shovel, bucket and action figures and you did what you wanted. Fundamentally, you had no real goal; the end result was completely secondary to what you were doing to reach it. That’s the idea of a “sandbox” game: you aren’t being told what to do and you can feel free to express yourself creatively. You can break the status quo and go to places that you couldn’t otherwise. It’s not based around how much is given for you to do; it’s based around giving you tools and letting you discover what to do yourself.

If you’re a gamer and you haven’t read Reality Is Broken by Jane McGonigal (you might have seen her on The Colbert Report ), head on over to Amazon and check it out. It’s a fascinating look into how video games are making the world a better place, but also how we look at games overall. In the first chapter, she illustrates four main components of any game, one of which being the “goal”, that important drive that gives gamers incentive to continue. It’s essential to any kind of game because without it, the game doesn’t have a meaning. It’s generally pointless to play, and therefore, a gamer won’t play.

You can’t directly damage them with weapon attacks but you can use traps to get rid of somebody. They don’t actually die, but if an NPC is reduced to zero hit points they fall unconscious. They do gradually heal over time and eventually they will regain consciousness. You can heal them to recover hit points more quickly, or you can take their unconscious body and drop them off in some far away desolate location.

The story development in this episode brings out its appeal to older audiences. It’s fast paced and doesn’t leave a whole lot of room to think where it would be important to. Quick time events (QTEs) are important in the episode, as they have been in the previous three, making it known that you have to be ready for anything. When you aren’t interacting in a QTE, you are trying to solve a series of puzzles that can only be done so by following a set of clues. The previous episodes also had puzzles the solve but they were as easy as flipping a few switches and moving on. This episode stresses your ability to listen in order to solve the puzzles and makes it a little easier to screw up and start over again. The episode also follows in the footsteps of the previous as exploration continues to be an important aspect. Since these puzzles are a little bit more difficult, every room has more information and lore about the world that Telltale has created as you search for clues.

The desert biome in Minecraft is usually not the most popular choice for players to build in, but it can be a good place to start for giant builds due to the amount of flat surface. There’s also no clearing needed when it comes to trees and shr

Mountains remain one of the most popular places for players to set up their homes. There’s plenty of high ground safety and the view is simply gorgeous. However, rather than building on top of a mountain, the new trend seems to be the build a home within the mount

Castles are always a safe choice for Minecraft players since they’ll often end up looking impressive and fantastical no matter the location or setting. Plus, the blocks and the aesthetics of the game are simply perfect for more medieval-style bui

It seems that it is getting to be closing time so I should probably get out of here. For my last question, since I got us off track talking about abusing The Sims, what is something you wish I asked you during that tangent and how would you answer it?

Minecraft is the brainchild of Markus “Notch” Persson, an independent game developer from Sweden. Persson’s interest in the building elements of games like Infiniminer led him to expand upon the construction pitch of the game and add in expansive exploratory and dungeon-crawling features as well. In 2009, Persson released an alpha version of Minecraft , with an overwhelmingly avid public flocking to see the game. Persson continued to develop the game into beta, with users being frequently updated with new modes, mods and abilities as it developed. Before the game even went gold in March 2012, Minecraft earned over 4 million purchases. It is currently the sixth bets selling PC game of all time with over 33 million copies sold across all platforms (over 12 million of those being on PC alone).
